#2021picoftheweek – Bookish

A stack of 13 books with spines in a rainbow pattern from red at the top to pink at the bottom. The spines take up the right three-fourths of the image and are brightly illuminated except for some dark vertical and horizontal stripes from the shades. The tops of the books are visible in the left fourth of the image and are dark. The surroundings are almost completely black, except for a few stripes of light in three locations on the white table.

Prompt: Bookish

OK, I know people say not to just take pictures on your camera in Auto mode, but when your camera decides to make the lighting look THIS COOL, how can you resist? To be fair, I did pick the rainbow of books and positioned them so only the spines were lit up, but my camera took it to the next level by dimming the surroundings. You could say it's a little ominous, but honestly, when this stack is just a small fraction of the books waiting for you to read them, "ominous" is a pretty solid description!

Challenge progress:

We have our FIRST BINGO!!! Tree or Bush, In the Air, the free space, Bookish, and Mellow Yellow make a horizontal bingo through the third row. And if I can just finish Sweetness and Talk to Me in the next two weeks, I'll have a second bingo as well!

  1. I love it! I love using window light like that. Nicely done. (Or nicely done, camera?) :)

    1. I think my camera and I both played a part—it was a team effort! ;) I was really happy with how the light from the window came out—I'm trying to pay more attention to which direction the light is coming from, since that's obviously super-important in photography. Thanks so much for stopping by!
